| My new townhouse is awesome. I love having my own place again, and, I must say, someone has done a very nice job decorating! (Modest, aren't I? ) Work is good too, it's slow now, and I'm getting lots of extra, but important, things done. I am currently at work as we rotate working Saturdays and it's my turn this week. I am all alone in the textbook department - 100% responsible for what goes on up here today. Of course, absolutely nothing is going on, hence I am typing a weblog entry. The only project I have for the entire day is to type up the procedures for my particular job so that when I am out sick, on vacation, or simply move on to "bigger and better things" other people will know how to do my work. Other than that and telling the one or two student employees who may come in today what to do, I'll just be twiddling my thumbs at the customer service desk. | | |
| I have finally rented and moved into a townhouse in C'ville!!! It's really nice too! Just in time for my week of twelve hour days at work. . . | | |
| Oh yeah, and did I mention that as of yesterday I am at long last OFFICIALLY a UVa employee?! | | |
| I rediscovered Rascall Flatts yesterday. Some of their lyrics really makes one think. When the Sand Runs Out I spent the morning at an old friend's grave Flowers and 'Amazing Grace', he was a good man He spent his whole life spinning his wheels Never knowing how the real thing feels He never took a chance or took the time to dance And I stood there thinking, as I said goodbye Today is the first day of the rest of my life
I'm gonna stop looking back and starting moving on Learn how to face my fears Love with all of my heart, make my mark I wanna leave something here Go out on a ledge, without any net That's what I'm gonna be about Yeah, I wanna be running When the sand runs out
Cause people do it everyday Promise themselves they're gonna change I've been there, but I'm changing from the inside out That was then and this is now I'm a new man, yeah, I'm a brand new man And when they carve my stone, they'll write these words "Here lies a man who lived life for all that it's worth"
I'm gonna stop looking back and starting moving on And learn how to face my fears Love with all of my heart, make my mark I wanna leave something here Go out on a ledge, without any net That's what I'm gonna be about Yeah, I wanna be running When the sand runs out
And as the cold wind blows across the graveyard I think I hear the voice of my old friend, whisper in my ear
I'm gonna stop looking back and start moving on And learn how to face my fears Love with all of my heart and make my mark I wanna leave something here Go out on a ledge, without any net That's what I'm gonna be about Yeah, I wanna be running When the sand runs out I wanna be running When the sand runs out Yes I do, mmm This struck me too (from the song, "Feels Like Today"): You treat life like a picture But its not a moment frozen in time It's not gonna wait Til you make up your mind, at all | | |
| FYI - I posted LOTS of photos from the retreat (especially the cave!) under my photo blog in the album "Machen Singles Retreat." Check them out! | | |
